Outerly isn't an event company; it's a community company. Every weekend, we organize self-led small-group walks across DC, Baltimore, and Philly designed to help you make real connections. Over 1,800 people have found friends, started group chats, and even met romantic partners on our walks.

How It Works

Tell us about you

When you create an account, we'll ask you some quick questions to get to know you. We use your answers to match you into small groups for your walks.

Book an outing

View our schedule and choose an outing that you're interested in. You can grab a one-time ticket or join our community as a member. We'll handle the rest.

Review itinerary

The day before your walk, we'll send your group assignment, starting point, and walking route. Usually you'll meet at a local coffee shop or landmark.

Take a walk

Show up, walk 2-3 miles with your group along your custom route, and stick around at the end point to meet walkers from other groups too.

What is Outerly?

Outerly is a community that matches you with a small group of strangers for fully planned outings around your city. Each week, we choose different itineraries, neighborhoods, and groups so that you'll never get the same experience twice! It's an excellent way to meet interesting new people, explore new neighborhoods and hidden gems, and enjoy some time away from your screens.

Who should join Outerly?

Outerly is for everyone! We believe that human connections are best cultivated IRL, while walking and exploring new places. We welcome you into our community no matter your background, beliefs, or identity.

How much does it cost?

One single outing ticket costs $10. We also have various membership options available which give you access to unlimited outings, special perks, and more.

What is included in my booking?

Outings are our curated, small group outings around the city. Every outing is different, but they all include a fully planned itinerary, a custom walking route, and a personalized group. Before you register for an Outing, you take a short personality questionnaire that we use to match you into a group.

Then, we assign you to a group of 6-10 people based on your answers and provide a fully planned outing itinerary that includes a start point at a local business or park, a custom walking route around the neighborhood, and an ending point where all of the different small groups meet up together.

How are small groups chosen?

When you join your first Outing, you'll fill out a questionnaire so we can learn more about you. We then use a combination of technology and human power to choose groups of 6-10 people for each outing.

How long are the walking routes?

Most walking itineraries are between 2 to 3 miles, and are designed to take 1 to 1.5 hours. We select walking routes based on the preferences you state in your questionnaire.

What is your cancellation and refund policy for an outing?

We do not offer refunds for outing tickets. If you are booked for an outing and cancel more than 48 hours in advance, you will receive a credit for a ticket to a future walk. If you cancel after this time, we are unable to move or change your reservation, and additional fees may apply.

If we have to cancel an outing for weather or other reasons outside of our control, you will receive a credit you can use to book a future outing for free.

Right now, Outerly is available in Washington, DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. However, we have plans to expand into new cities soon. Register here to request your city and stay in the loop about Outings nearby!
